The Design

The inspiration behind this bass is a scene from The Last Jedi. You know the scene where the red sand of Crait is covered in salt. The battle that ensues reveals the beauty of the contract between the red sand and light salt, mimicked here by the contrast between the maple and padauk. I love working with padauk because of its beauty, but it can be toxic, so I have to fully suit up! It is totally worth it. I fell in love with this flamed padauk that I used for the fretboard and the cavity cover on the back and used paduak for the body core and custom knobs too. The burl maple top is as unique as the angel-stepped maple back, which looks like wings.
